We hope you all enjoyed the Labor Day weekend. Like us, I'm sure many of you prepared, cooked, grilled and reveled in the many tastes of summer that are the result of the hard work of our farmers. We are grateful for their labors and what they bring to our world.
Many of you have joined us for A GOOD Night and other celebrations and have heard Chris quote Wendell Berry:
“Good farmers, who take seriously their duties as stewards of their land’s inheritors, contribute to the welfare of society in more ways than society usually acknowledges, or even knows. These farmers produce valuable goods, of course; but they also conserve soil, they conserve water, they conserve wildlife, they conserve open space, they conserve scenery.”
― Wendell Berry, Bringing it to the Table: Writings on Farming and Food
We know this week is bittersweet for many, as kids head back to school, everyone is back in the office and no longer daydreaming of summer vacations and we adjust to different routines. But summer is officially not over yet, people! Get your kitchens ready for Week 12.
