Knowing exactly when to start the Summer Share season to give our GOOD FOOD community the best 16 weeks of local food is one of the challenges we face every year. And this year is no different. We have been up late talking through the options, working with our farmers to gauge the crops out in the fields, and striving to find the best way to deliver GOOD FOOD to our members. This cold week, and a slow spring to begin with, brought us to the decision to WAIT ONE WEEK TO BEGIN DISTRIBUTION. Distribution will NOT begin next week. It will begin TUESDAY JUNE 18, WEDNESDAY JUNE 19 and THURSDAY JUNE 20. The season will end one week later than originally anticipated, as you will still receive 16 weeks of GOOD FOOD. Our last Summer Share distributions will be Tuesday October 1, Wednesday October 2 and Thursday October 3. We greatly apologize for the delay and any inconvenience this may cause you. And although this delays us a week, it looks like it lines us up with a fantastic start! If we start next week, we will only have 3 or so items coming in bulk. But by the following week we are looking at the possibility of lettuce, kale, chard, peas, scallions, broccoli, scapes, STRAWBERRIES, and more… Every year we build this option into our planning to align our 16 week season with the most productive 16 weeks of the growing season. In turn, our members get the best value for their membership. I know this is hard news for those of us hungry for fresh, local foods and so very ready for the Good Food Collective season to kick off! But this decision helps all of us have the best GOOD FOOD season we can create. Thank you for being part of this local eating adventure! We apologize for the inconvenience to your GOOD FOOD planning, but we will make sure it is worth the wait!! As always, please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns. You will continue to hear from us regularly over the next week as we get ready to start the best GFC season ever!
