| Philosophy | We are one of the only greenhouse businesses in the entire country that grows ornamental as well as edible plants organically. Organically grown plants are not only safer for you and your family to handle, they adapt more successfully to you landscape than conventionally grown plants. We are devoted to greenhouse growing in a fashion that has the least impact on our shared natural resources. We consistently strive to improve our business practices with environmental and social progress in mind and are always willing to share what we learn with other growers and our customers. |
Soil |
Although we don’t grow our crops in the ground we do grow our plants in a homemade compost based planting mix that will ensure an improvement of the soil structure in your garden. |
Weed Control |
Not an issue in a greenhouse environment. |
Pest Management |
While conventional greenhouse growers struggle with unnatural insect pest population growth in a closed system growing environment, we invite nature into the greenhouse. We find that by encouraging natural predator populations around the greenhouse via companion planting we are better capable of keeping undesirable insect populations in check naturally. If necessary, during the early growing season before we open roll up the sides of the greenhouse and ‘let nature in’ we will employ the efforts of beneficial insects. |
Water Use |
We grow our plants ‘hard.’ In greenhouse lingo that means that our plants are grown cold and dry. This method of growing makes for a longer crop time but provides the perfect conditions for a tough plant, one that will transition smoothly to it’s new home in your garden. |
