Baking the kale makes from great chips. The are great with regular salt. If you try with other seasonings, please report back. We would love to hear of your creativity with this recipe.

INGREDIENTS
- 1 bunch kale
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
HOW TO PREPARE
- Preheat an oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line a non insulated cookie sheet with parchment paper.
- With a knife or kitchen shears carefully remove the leaves from the thick stems and tear into bite size pieces. Wash and thoroughly dry kale with a salad spinner. Drizzle kale with olive oil and sprinkle with seasoning salt.
- Bake until the edges brown but are not burnt, 10 to 15 minutes.

Tips on Kale Chips
1.) By massaging the oil into the kale pieces it helps them cook evenly, as well as making sure that the salt/spices are spread out.
2.) Check every minute after 8 or so to make sure you don’t burn – different ovens will cook differently.
3.) Instead of salt, try different spice combinations you know you like. My favorites are Parmesan-Garlic and Cumin-Garlic.
I had my daughter make these and they were delicious. Since we like spicy, I sprinkled some Tony Chachere’s Creole seasoning on half and they were awesomely spicy. TRY IT!
I used a homemade taco seasoning..quite tasty. I saved some for crumbling into scrambled eggs, even more tasty!!
I made kale chips with “Slap ya Mama” cajun seasoning and then made beets green chips with salt. Both turned out wonderfully!
Amanda, the oven I used baked the darned things in 5 minutes. Unfortunately, I didn’t get it right until batch #3. By that point, no one wanted to eat them because I made them try the first two icky batches. You mean, they aren’t supposed to be purple and taste like campfire?
The last batch was perfection, though. And now I know.
These were GREAT! My husband and I had never had kale so when they told me about kate chips we had to try them. They really are a delicious treat!!!!! This is the first time that we’ve had kale and we love this recipe. Not only have we tried and loved kale for the first time but chard too -we love the good food collective!
Julie, you can see from the previous comments that I was the only one on the face of the planet, apparently, that had trouble getting the kale chips right the first couple times. But when I finally made a batch baked right, they were amazing! Glad you are a kale convert. And the beautiful chard grown around here graces many a happy table. Hooray for green things!
